Stocking Up on THC Edibles Before the Hemp Ban: How to Store Them So They Last
Buying Ahead of the Hemp Deadline? Here's How to Store Your Edibles Right
With the federal hemp THC limit arriving on December 11, 2026 (and November 12 for delta-8 and similar products), a lot of people are buying their favorites while they're still available. If you're buying more than usual, store them properly so they stay fresh and potent.
1. Keep them cool. Heat breaks down THC and melts gummies and chocolates. Room temperature or below is ideal.
2. Keep them dark. Light degrades cannabinoids over time. Use the original packaging or an opaque container.
3. Keep them airtight. Air and humidity dry out baked goods and make gummies sticky. Reseal every time.
4. Refrigerate or freeze long-term stock. Most gummies and chocolates hold up well in the fridge. Freezing can extend shelf life further. Thaw in the sealed package to avoid condensation.
5. Watch the best-by date. Edibles don't become unsafe overnight, but texture and potency fade. Buy what you'll realistically use.
6. Keep them locked away from kids and pets. Always.
One more thing: Laws on possession differ by state. Check what applies where you live.
